This
brings us to the "when". Obviously, we've touched on that when
pondering the why, but it deserves more scrutiny. Historically, I believe man has been creating since day one. A self evident
deduction. When does man actually create? Consciously at varying levels.
Unconsciously, nightly. I put great weight on the subconscious mind to
facilitate unhampered creativity; to unravel our logical thinking during
the day and to create more subtle, abstract connections vexing the waking
mind. The subconscious mind, I think, is the key to free flowing creativity.
It is the counterweight to an otherwise lopsided brain. Experiments in
sleep deprivation have concluded that without sleep, a person will surely
go insane in short measure. The beauty part of it is, to tap one's subconscious
benefits, all you need do is be aware of it. Consciously say to yourself
in your head, "subco, go to it". I trust you'll find that a
day or several later, the solution to the creative problem surfaces. We'll
touch more on this in the "how" section.
