When
speaking about history, one initially thinks obviously of the concept
of time or the "when" of it all. This alone does not begin to delve into an answer. I say AN answer, not THE answer because
we're talking about art and the beauty of art, is that it is largely left
up to interpretation. Inextricably tied to the "when" of creating
are : why, where, who, what, and how. Some easy to answer, others requiring
years of ponder, and still others can only be speculated upon. But once
again the beauty of art. I shall attempt to answer the easy questions,
tackle to tough ones, and speculate on the quandaries. Since this book
is to be used largely as a learning tool, the "how" will be
dealt with in great depth. To do this however, we must first touch on
the other questions to get a good foundation for my method of tackling
the "how". We will begin with "why".
